The presenter Otávio Mesquita, 65, spoke on the night of Thursday (27) about the complaint of the prosecutor of São Paulo for rape. Former stage assistant to SBT’s The Night program, Juliana Oliveira, accuses him of non-consensual touches during the recording of an interview at the attraction with Mesquita and Danilo Gentili, in April 2016.
According to the complaint, the images and the transcription of the dialogues of the attraction show that Mesquita touched the breasts and the private parts of Juliana, even though she trying to dodge and showing contrary to the situation. The defense of the former assistant states in the action that criminal law “considers that the practice of libidinous acts through violence constitutes rape even if there is no penetration”.
Mesquita, who recently passed angioplasty (medical procedure that cleared coronary arteries, allowing blood to flow better for the heart), defended himself from criminal representation and said he was surprised by the accusation of rape. “It took me a long time to understand what it was and realized that this complaint was about a joke at the opening of the Gentili program. Everything there had been combined in an informal way,” he began, remembering that the episode occurred almost 10 years ago. “During this period, there was no record of displeasure or complaint,” said the presenter.
He lamented the confusion and stressed that he will seek reparations in the court. “I will take the measures to defend my honor and also my family, because, after all, my ex-wife at the time was in the audience with my son. How was I was going to do such a nonsense, right?”
Otávio Mesquita acknowledged that the times have changed and act/the caresses, what calls play can have been improper. “I’m sorry, if I overlooked.
