Salary, advertising and new position: the reasons that made Barbara Coelho exchange globe for Cazé TV

The end of 2024 does not bring good memories to journalist and host Barbara Coelho, 37. In December, Globo decided to take her out of the spectacular sports command to relieve her in SporTV as a commentator, which she didn’t want. At the same time, the professional had to deal with her mother’s liver cancer in metastasis. The treatment was no longer very effect, and the farewell was imminent.

A month ago, Dona Inês died and Barbara felt it was time for change. She chose to put an end to Globo’s 12 years and began talking to Cazé TV, where she debuted on March 30 the time, attraction of debates at the end of the Brasileirão Sunday rounds.

“It was a time when my phone was playing and I already expected bad news. I lived very difficult processes, I have anxiety seizures, I do treatment. I think I needed to go through all this. As much as I see a strong woman in me, it’s not so.

Nevertheless, Barbara says she was able to say goodbye to her mother at the hospital amid this whirlwind of emotions. The station’s departure took place on March 10, the day after the last presentation of the spectacular sport, the channel’s largest sports program.

In her view, becoming a soccer commentator would not be a “relegation” in her career, on the contrary. But Barbara says that the question that weighed most was the fact that this segments her audience and limit her opportunities.

“I want to talk about sports in general, since it is part of my lifestyle. I would no longer go to an Olympics, for example, which is what I love most in life. I want to talk more with the female audience, redirect my social network. What motivated my departure was the change of function,” he says.

In addition, the higher salary at Cazé TV and the possibility of opening the horizons for advertising were other factors that contributed to the decision to change TV over the internet.

“The station never knew Cazé’s proposal and I didn’t want to make auction. I was transparent and wasn’t in that conversation to ask for an increase to stay. They tried, yes, fit into other products, but I thought it didn’t make anymore.”

One of these products would be to participate as a commentator of the Sportv closure, which recently debuted and has former player Denilson as one of the highlights.

“I built a beautiful story at Globo, but there is time when the cycle ends. It was seven years in spectacular sport, but the program asked for changes,” she comments on the entrances of Karine Alves and Fernando Fernandes.

The first edition of the ball time aired live last Sunday (30). The most stripped -down program had Casimiro Miguel, the “boss” as one of the round’s commentators. “It was really cool, I had a lot of having a debate. On TV you talk to another type of audience, and on the internet I have more freedom to dress and talk, to be who I like to be,” he adds.
