Photographer Gabriel Rangel posted on a paparazzi page on Tiktok a video of actress Maisa Silva in the landing area at Santos Dumont airport in Rio de Janeiro this Thursday (10).

The light -skinned actress wore sunglasses at night and was next to her father, Celso Andrade, who is a dark man with dark skin. The images show Celso holding a suitcase and a bag, while the daughter takes a picture with a fan.

After fulfilling the order, Maisa and his father are walking for almost 15 seconds. They are still filmed by Rangel who interrupts them. “Hi, Maisa! Good night, how are you?” Said the photographer.

“Good night,” replied the actress with a smile. Despite the answer, she did not stop walking. At this point, Celso gently put his hands on his daughter’s shoulder.

Rangel still filmed Maisa and Celso passing through the airport door. “He went out here, with the security guard. Accompanied by the security guard,” said the photographer.

He kept following them on the sidewalk. Already away from the camera, and without others around, his father repeats the gesture of putting his hand gently over his daughter’s shoulder.

On the internet, fans repudiated Rangel’s gesture, who referred to Maisa’s father as a security guard.

“And once again, they confuse Maisa’s father safely, driver … He’s called everything but father. I don’t even have to say the name of it, right?” posted another page on X.

Hundreds of netizens warned Rangel that Celso was Maysa’s father, despite the different skin color, through the comments in the original video. Some of the warnings associated the practice of the photographer with racial discrimination.

But other netizens found the situation normal. These users stated that they would also be confused because of Celso’s physical size, the color of Maisa’s father’s shirt and for him “walking behind her.”

In the video caption, contrary to what is said in the content, the photographer wrote: “With limited sympathy, Maisa arrives accompanied by his father in RJ.”

To the F5Rangel denied that the case was motivated by skin color. “I have been working for over 15 years like paparazzo and had never photographed the Maisa and I don’t even follow her on the networks,” he said.

He apologized for Celso and Maisa. The photographer also called himself black and said he has already suffered “at least embarrassing” situations in public environments, such as malls.

“Even working or with the camera in the backpack I was already chased by security guards who thought I was a thief,” he said. That’s why he said he repudiates any kind of prejudice and stated that he battles them.

Rangel lamented the episode, but said it is common for famous people to be accompanied by security guards at the time of landing at the airport.
