The multifaceted history, art, design and craftsmanship of the French luxury jewelry house Cartier explores a new exhibition at the V&A Museum in London.
The first exhibition in the United Kingdom of the House for nearly 30 years includes more than 350 creations, including jewelry – loans by King Charles III from the Royal Collection, as well as other treasures from museums around the world and private collections.
Recording the rise of Cartier from its founding in 1847 until its evolution “In the Kings of the Kings and the King of the Jewelry”, the “Cartier” exhibition examines the evolution of the heritage of the house in art, design and crafts from the early 20th century and describes the early 20th century. The three main sections of the exhibition are detected the evolution of the Cartier in a world empire, the legacy of its technical ingenuity and its sophisticated approach to the creation of images and maintaining its mystery in a changing world.
Also explored the trademark of Cartier’s style, Art Deco, which is only a part, as its founder and designers were open to a wide range of cultures inspiration, including China, Japan and Islam.
A particularly spectacular treasure exposed is Manchester’s tiara, which Molsworth describes as a symbol for the three brothers. “It’s the perfect beginning of our story for the three. Tiara was built in 1903 in Paris for an English aristocratic family, to be worn by an American, the Duchess of Manchester Consselo, who had ordered her. ” Tiara denotes the early ambitions of the brothers and the world business they have developed, he notes.
The exhibition was inaugurated on April 12 and will run until November 16, 2025.
