Videocasts, Internet interview programs are not new. But Carol Barcellos, 43, joined her friend and a former beach volleyball player Maria Clara Salgado, 41, with the proposal to make a different program.

The journalist says that the idea of creating the far beyond sport was the result of restlessness, the desire to do new things, after 20 years at Globo. The proposal is to promote conversations about sport and life among people from different areas. “The criterion for choosing the guests is to have a person of sports and no, but whose chats connect. It has a certain boldness in this. It becomes a deep dive into a theme. Listening to some people is already worth it,” he says.

The first season of much beyond the sport will have eight episodes in all, released fortnightly on Youtube, Spotify, Deezer and Apple Music. In the debut program, on April 8, the Flamengo player Danilo and journalist Tiago Rogeo participated. Alongside the presenters, the guests addressed the theme “Arrival or Becoming” and told a little about their projects, achievements and challenges.

The episode that is expected to air on Tuesday will have the world wrestling champion Aline Silva and writer Conceição Evaristo. Already the third, scheduled to be aired on May 6, will have the meeting between Ney Matogrosso and actor Gabriel Leone, who played Ayrton Senna in the Netflix series.

“The chats end up intertwining in meetings that no one would imagine, but needed. Ney, for example, is one of those dream guests. I didn’t even believe it when he accepted,” she says, who says he is hopeful for the show to go ahead and get a second season. Until the last episode, swimmer Joanna Maranhão, former volleyball player Fabi Alvim and chef Kátia Barbosa will be present at Videocast.

Exit from Globo and new plans

It was after completing his work at the Paris Olympic Games in August last year that Carol resigned from Globo, where she worked since 2004. According to her, this decision was not taken overnight and was the result of a restlessness.

“I entered the station as an intern and there I did my whole professional life. I learned a lot. But the cycle was over. I left the channel without knowing what the next steps would be. I was so long employed that I didn’t even know what it was like to be available in the job market,” he says.

The journalist quickly agreed to CNBC Brazil, where he runs the Lifestyle Planet program on Saturdays at 9:30 pm and on Sundays at 8:30 pm.

Carol says that one day she realized that she had already lived all the possible experiences on the channel. It would be no exaggeration to say that such a comfort zone made it uncomfortable in a way. “It was time to risk myself, and Videocast is an example of this. In it, I’m not just a host, but a producer. I had never done something so intense. It’s like a TV show,” he says.

The resignation was resigned in August, but a few months earlier, in February, Carol and reporter Marcelo Courrege assumed they were dating. From this, the private life of journalists began to become a matter, especially after both were accused of betrayal by Renata Heilborn, former reporter of Globo and former Wife of Courege.

Without going into the merits of the matter, Carol explains that her departure didn’t have to do with this episode. “These are different decisions. My personal life has never been part of my professional career and will not do. In life, everyone goes through turbulence, and I always attach to the real world.”

The journalist, who during the Paulista Championship worked at Cazé TV as anchor of some of the pre-games broadcast on Youtube, says this year is intended to make more special reports for her CNBC program, including trips, and that she is not leaving the sport aside. “It’s part of my routine, but I want to try other areas yet,” he explains.
