The islands of the Northeast Aegean become the studio for “Where there is Greece” this week. The first stop for Elabia Revi and George Kourdis, today, Monday, May 5th at 14.45, is Chios. Chios with her “magic” Gifts – her mastic, her aromatic plain, her history, her picturesque villages, her beaches and her hospitable inhabitants.

The famous Kampos Chios with its great mansions and the unparalleled fragrance of the tangerine unfolds its secrets. The Kaboussians and its inept have a special story that is inextricably linked to that of the island.

An abandoned medieval Kastrochori is Anavatos Chios. Its silent beauty is breathtaking, but the sense of wilderness is interrupted by the vivacity and exciting story of its only resident. Mrs Smaragda, who has made 15 engagements but not marriage because … “men are trouble”, keeps him alive.

The Chios Lovia House has been the longest -running lamp in the country with a six -centuries operation. We are crossing the places that have lived through thousands of patients and illuminate its history with the help of the local club that has been struggling for years for the reuse of buildings.

Technique and art transform the stone of the Thymians. A stone -killer and a former mathematician matched their dreams and created a workshop, where people very different from each other learn to shape the thymian stone that responds to the mansions of the plain.

Our leading marathon runner Christopher Merousis, walks us on the streets of his home country, in Kardamyla and meets people who love and honor him. He describes his personal fight, who took him to the Olympics.

Chios has no tennis court. Tennis athletes train in its open basketball. The intentions of the officials are good, but they are not followed by a project, as those involved tell us. Problems in the closed, with damage that is damaged and lacking equipment. But dozens of children enjoy sports in every way.
