The incident is added to an already charged political climate, as Israel’s participation in this year’s competition has sparked a wave of reactions and demonstrations, with many demanding its exclusion due to the ongoing conflict in Gaza.

EBU has already introduced a new code of conduct to protect artists and staff, while security in Basel has been reinforced with over 1,300 police officers.
