The reality show star Kim Kardashian told a court in Paris about his shock and fear of thinking that he would be raped and killed during a 2016 robbery, in which he was robbed in his hotel room for a gang that stole jewelry worth millions.
Kardashian, dressed in an elegant black costume and bright jewels, arrived in court in a black van minutes before, accompanied by his mother. Cameras are not allowed in court, and their testimony is not broadcast live.
“I really thought it was going to die,” she told court. “I thought of my sister, I thought she would come in and see me dead and keep this memory forever.”
Kardashian cried to remember the beginning of the attack, in which the suspects, dressed in police uniforms, are accused of tieing her with plastic clamps and tape before fleeing jewelry, including a $ 4 million engagement ring given to her by her then husband, rapper Kanye West (now known as Ye).
“We were leaving the next morning, so I was just pacing my bags. It was about 3 am. I heard Passos climbing the stairs while in bed,” she said.
“And in my room came some police officers, or that I assumed they were police, because they had police uniforms.”
“So, I heard one of the gentlemen energetically say ‘ring! Ring!’ In English, with accent, pointing, “she said.
“I was hysterical and looked at Concierge and told him what would happen to us, I had to go home to my babies,” Kardashian said.
She said that at one point she feared being raped when the thieves threw her on the bed and one of them grabbed her leg. “But he ended up tying me and closing my legs,” she said.
Kardashian said the intruders did not hit her.
“I was clinging, dragged to the other room and thrown on the floor, but I was not hit, no,” she said.
SECURITY
The attack changed many things, she said, even leading her to increase her safety.
“It changed the way I feel safe at home. Now I have between four and six security guards at home to feel safe,” she said. “I can’t sleep at night if there are no several security guards.”
Prior to Kardashian’s testimony, his designer Simone Harouche, who was sleeping in the same luxury hotel apartment at the time of the attack, told the court about the “terror” they both felt during the robbery.
Harouchhe ran to lock herself in the bathroom and sent a message to Kardashian’s sister Kourtney and her bodyguard asking for help.
When the thieves left and Kardashian joined her downstairs, “she was out of her mind, I had never seen her like that before,” Houcheche said. “She just shouted and said, ‘We need to get out of here, we need help, what will we do if they come back?'”
Harouchche also cried a few times during his statement and said he changed his career and did therapy because of the robbery, which, she said, caused posttraumatic stress and left her for fear of being close to celebrities.
In all, nine men and one woman are being tried by the criminal court. Five of them – all men – face accusations of armed theft and kidnapping, and risk being sentenced to life imprisonment. The others are accused of complicity in the theft or illegal possession of a weapon.
As the thieves escaped on foot or by bicycle, they lost some jewelry, including a cross with six diamonds, which a passerby found on the street and took to the police. But most jewelry, including the $ 4 million engagement ring, has never been found.
Kardashian fans line up early on Tuesday to get a chance to get a seat at court.
“We came to show our support to Kim Kardashian because she is someone we have followed from very young,” said social media influencer Leo Saint-Charles.
“She inspires us a lot, and we are here to support her in this judgment, which was very traumatic for her. And that’s it, we hope justice will be done, right?”
