Paris Court condemns accused of stealing jewelry from Kim Kardashian, which celebrates

A French court condemned on Friday (23) a group of people who, in 2016, tied the American reality show star Kim Kardashian under the gun before fleeing with his $ 4 million engagement ring (about $ 22.6 in the current exchange rate) and other belongings.

Ten people were in the defendants, accused of involvement in the robbery in Paris. Using skiing masks and disguised as police, they tied the billionaire celebrity before running away with the ring, given her for her husband at the time, rapper Kanye West (now known as Ye), and other jewelry.

Kardashian traveled to Paris to give testimony earlier this month, telling the court that he even thought he would die.

The mixed panel of judges and jurors sentenced eight of the ten defendants for crimes directly linked to theft, while another accused was found guilty of accusations of illegal possession of weapons. One person was acquitted.

The heaviest sentences were given to five defendants who participated directly in the theft, and the crime mentor, Aomar Ait Khedache, 69, received a sentence of three years in prison.

Kardashian’s lawyers said she accepted the court’s decision. “I am deeply grateful to the French authorities for seeking justice in this case,” she said in a statement.

“Crime was the most terrifying experience of my life, leaving a lasting impact on me and my family,” he continued. “Although I never forget what happened, I believe in the power of growth and responsibility, and the healing of all.”

During her appearance in court, she said she accepted the request for forgiveness written by Khedache in a letter.

The press dubbed the thieves of “Grandma thieves” as many of them were in the age of retiring or near it. At the time, theft was considered the largest in France in more than 20 years.
