Xuxa surprised his followers when filmed feeding bats at his home in Rio de Janeiro. The record was made by her husband, Junno Andrade, 61, and shared in the actor’s Instagram stories.
In the video, Xuxa appears riding drinking fountains with water and sugar for the animals. The containers were positioned on a tree in the garden of the house. The presenter appears surrounded by dozens of bats and shows tranquility while feeding the animals.
The scene, which caught the attention of netizens, was accompanied by a humorous comment from Junno. He referred to his wife as “Xu Batgirl,” while filming the moment when the bats flew around her.
According to the World Health Organization (WHO), bats play a crucial role in the dynamics of transmission of various zoonotic viruses. The attitude of the presenter brought an alert about the dangers this can cause in humans.
Paulista veterinary doctor Adrielly Toledo highlights health risks: “The so -called zoonoses, which are transmitted between us, humans, and animals, include diseases such as anger, which stands out for being 99% lethal for them and us. Symptoms are fast and lead a human being to a short time.”
She states that exposure and prolonged contact by feeding these animals end up subjecting the person to contract viruses and bacteria, which puts health at imminent risk.
“Even captive bats should only be manipulated for medicinal, health or veterinarians, biologists or researchers with specific knowledge of the species, and even these professionals are at risk,” said the doctor.
On social networks, the videos viralized. A user, @reenlsober, commented: “This animal is very dangerous, can convey a series of diseases. Simple contact with a human can cause a number of problems! What does it have in the head?”
The fan @sougabes, defended the artist: “She has love of nature and a genuine connection with animals.”
The doctor says that if she finds any of these weak or fallen animals, the ideal is to cover with a bucket, call the sanitary surveillance and never put her hand in these animals, not even with gloves.
“Nature must be in her place and we are lucky to be able to watch them from afar, enjoy their beauties, but always respect the spaces of each species,” says Adrielly.
