Porto da Pedra discloses synopsis of the plot in which it tells the history of prostitution

Unidos do Porto da Pedra presented on the night of Monday (3) the synopsis of the plot that will lead to Marquis de Sapucaí in 2026. With the title “of the oldest in the world, the sweet and bitter kiss of the night”, the theme will deal with the history of prostitution and how sex professionals were portrayed over the centuries-era with stigmas, sometimes as symbols of resistance.

The disclosure took place on the school court, in São Gonçalo, with the presence of composers, activists and members of social movements.

The carnival Mauro Quintaes, responsible for the creation, said that the proposal is to revisit the trajectory of these women from a critical perspective, without falling into romanticism or caricatures. The parade research is signed by Diego Araújo. “The word respect will be the guiding thread for your inspiration this year,” said Mauro, addressing composers during the disclosure of the synopsis.

Launched precisely on the International Prostitute Day, the plot marks the closure of a trilogy started by Quintaes in the late 1990s, when the school took to Avenida Figures Marginalized, such as people with mental disorders and thieves. Now, two decades later, the Tiger of São Gonçalo returns to this territory with an even more provocative proposal.

“We are not doing an ode to prostitution,” says the text delivered to composers. “We seek in the history of these women the sweet and the bitter of their experiences, as they were portrayed by art and, finally, the struggle for appreciation of those who act in what is popularly called ‘life’.”

Among the characters that will inspire are names like Madame Tussaud and Dona Beja, symbols of different historical moments. The school promises to give voice to the experiences of women who, for centuries, have been pushed into the edges of society.

According to the statement of the association, the goal is to turn Porto da Pedra into a bridge between the avenue and debates that have been silenced for a long time. The letter sent to composers reinforces the intention to treat the subject with depth and creative freedom, provided that the central proposal is respected. “We seek a strong, fierce samba, that each component and sambista sing with joy. We trust the poetic potential of all of you.”
