Chris Rock Comedy Show Ticket Sales Bomb After Oscar Slap

Chris Rock, 57, can reap good rewards from the slap he took from Will Smith, 53, at the Oscars ceremony, held on Sunday (27). The comedian saw ticket sales for the comedy show he does soar after the incident.

According to the website TickPick, where tickets are sold, public interest has grown tremendously since the moment it aired live on the broadcast, surprising everyone. The platform says it sold more tickets for the tour last night than all of last month.

With the high demand, the value of tickets also increased. Before, they were sold for US$ 46 (about R$ 219), but now they do not go for less than US$ 341 (R$ 1,622).

Rock should return to the stage this week. He has six shows scheduled between March 30 and April 1 at the Wilbur Theater in Boston, United States. For these performances, tickets are currently only available on revenant websites.

The following day, April 2, he officially begins the Ego Death World Tour, with which he must pass through more than 30 cities on the American leg of the tour. In Los Angeles, he is due to perform at the Dolby Theater (Oscars stage) on November 17th.

During the biggest awards show in American cinema, Rock made a joke about the shaved head of actress Jada Pinkett Smith, wife of Will Smith. The actor didn’t like what he heard, went on stage and slapped the comedian in the face.

At the time, the public and the other guests of the ceremony were not sure if it would be a combined staging. Afterwards, Smith returned to his seat and yelled loud and clear, “Get my wife’s name out of your fucking mouth.”

Smith subsequently won the Oscar for best actor for “King Richard.” In his speech, crying a lot, the actor apologized to the Academy and the nominees around him, saying that he wants to be a recipient of love. “Love makes you do crazy things,” he said.
