In the complex of Piraeus 260 will be permanently housed, in addition to the performances, its administrative services Athens and Epidaurus Festivalas well as the services of the Cultural Resources Management Organization, as announced today by the Minister of Culture and Sports Lina Mendoni, during the presentation of the Festival program.
As the Minister of Culture said, “Piraeus 260 is owned by the National Bank. Through close cooperation with the executives of the National Bank, we have already reached and signed the first agreement, so that Piraeus 260 becomes part of the Ministry of Culture. We are currently in a phase of an evaluation process, in order to end it, so that with the appropriate court decision the issue of the expropriation of the space can be completed.
So in Piraeus 260 the Festival will now have its own space for its performances and for its administrative services. It will coexist, because it is many thousands of square meters, with the Organization for the Management and Development of Cultural Resources, with which contacts have already been made, in order for the space and the buildings to be utilized, as soon as possible. Therefore, if things are going well, within 12 months of the year at such a time, the Festival will have its own space for its offices and the spaces that host its performances “.
Lina Mendoni also noted that with funding from the Recovery Fund, the amount of 3,000,000 euros will be allocated for the upgrade of the Festival premises and infrastructure, in Herodeion, Epidaurus and Piraeus.
As he said, “the studies for the Herodeion have already been prepared by the Festival, have been approved by the KAS and the project has been included with the corresponding funding in the Recovery Fund and the auction of the project is in process. We expect from the Festival to have in a very short time the corresponding studies for Epidaurus, therefore there will be an intervention completely compatible with the theaters and the archeological site of Epidaurus, where, however, in a modern way, it will serve the functions of the Festival and a smaller amount, as requested, will serve interventions in the buildings of Piraeus “.
