The actress Bruna Marquezine, 26, revealed this Monday (15) that she had auditioned to play Supergirl in the movie “The Flash”, by DC Comics. In an interview with Nipples podcast, she said that she was second in the international selection. The role was won by Sasha Calle, 26.

According to Marquezine, the Covid-19 pandemic was one of the reasons she was not chosen. The limitations caused by the virus prevented her from going to London, England, where the film was shot.

“There was no way to go, they tried in every way possible,” he said. “But that wasn’t the only reason, the role was her (Sasha Calle).”

Moved, Marquezine said she was very happy with her audition performance and wept with joy for having come so close to playing an iconic character. She also said she received recognition from her auditions and is still in contact with the film’s production today.

The fact that she did well and reached the top 2 in the international selection strengthened the actress to return to the set of “Maldives”, a Netflix series in which she plays Liz. The series follows the lives of residents of a condominium and will premiere in 2022.

The actress said she was living through an insecure phase as an actress before auditioning for “The Flash”. She was happy to start recording “Maldives”, but when work had to be interrupted because of the pandemic, she rethought what she had already done and concluded that everything was terrible.

The theme of the podcast episode in which Marquezine revealed about the international role he almost conquered was the so-called impostor syndrome, insecurity that affects women in a still sexist society and sabotages professional and personal projects.

Marquezine reported on the matter that, when pausing his interpretation of “Maldives”, he began to believe that his only successful character in his professional career was little Salete, from the soap opera “Mulheres Apaixonadas” (Globo).

“Because I was a kid and a kid, anything you do is cute, okay,” he said.

The insecurity continued with the invitation to the DC movie, despite the happiness of the opportunity. The actress hired two American teachers to train acting and accent and thought about not sending the video with the test, recorded in the company of her best friend.

According to her, 60 actresses participated in this stage of the selection and some are professionals that she admires a lot and that she considers more capable and with more background.

“And I was the only Brazilian approved. I went to the top 5, I went to the top 2”, she said.

Marquezine reached the chemistry test stage with actor who plays Flash, Ezra Miller, 29.

“I studied it backwards. I memorized the two scenes, prepared everything I could and went to audition,” he recalled.

According to her, it was one of the best experiences she’s ever had. Marquezine revealed that she had started out discredited by her acting skills and emerged empowered by the praise she received from Miller and the director.

“I haven’t felt this for a long time. I used to say: I’m an actress, I love what I do and I know how to do it”.

Fans of the actress celebrated the revelation on social media.
