The movie ‘Father Mother Sister Brother’ Jim Jarmus was the big winner of the 82nd Venice Film Festival as he won the Golden Leo.
The dramatic comedy of the independent American director “Father Mother Sister Brother” explores family relationships in three chapters, between New Jersey, Dublin and Paris, having first -rate star castles: Adam Draver, Kaitz, Antam Draver,
“Thank you for appreciating our quiet movie,” Jarmus said.
The film, though he received positive reviews, was not a favorite for the top prize of the festival.
Tunisia’s film “The Voice of Hin Rajab” by Tunisia, a drama-drama for the war in the Gaza Strip, was considered a favorite but won the second prize, Silver Leo.
The film represents a true event: 5 -year -old Hid Rajab, trapped in a car that was rain from Israeli soldiers bullets, killing all six of her relatives on board, calling for help to the Palestinian Call Call for help. The girl was found dead in the bullet -torn vehicle, many days later.
The film, which takes one hour and thirty minutes, is played at the Red Crescent Call Center under the desire to save the baby girl and the need to adhere to the emergency protocols and not to endanger rescuers.
The director uses authentic calls for Hyd’s help but returns the scenes to the call center with Palestinian actors.
Mostra’s director Alberto Barbera had predicted in July that the film would have a “strong impact on the audience”, which was warmly welcomed as spectators applauded 24 minutes after her screening on Wednesday.
“Cinema cannot bring back Hid and erase the cruelties committed against her. But she can maintain her voice (…) because her story is not her own. It is the tragic story of a people suffering from the genocide imposed by a criminal Israeli government, which acts unpunished, “the director said, receiving the prize in applause.
The directing award went to Benny Safdi for the American film “The Smashing Machine” and the Screenplay Award to Valerie Donzeli and Gil Marsan for the French film “A Pied D’Euvre”.
The Commission’s Special Award was won by Gianfranco Rosie’s “Below the Clouds” while the Best/New Actor Award went to Luna Wendler for “Silent Friend”.
