After 8 years of total abstention, three-time Oscar-winning actress Daniel Day-Lewis spoke for the first time about his decision to return to the big screen.

The film was the film “Anemone”, which is the directorial debut of his son, Ronan.

As he revealed in an interview with Rolling Stone magazine, though he wrote the script with his son – based on their own idea – he had “specific doubts” for his return to the space.

“Ranan made it clear that he wouldn’t do it if I were not too,” the legendary actress said, adding: “I never intended to really retire. I just stopped to try something else

He then described his collaboration with his son as the key to his return to acting.

“As I grow older, it takes me more and more time to find the place where the fire burns. But working with RO, this fire lit immediately. And it was, from start to finish, the ultimate joy of spending that year with him, ”he explained.

In the film, Dei-Luis plays a hermit living in the forests of northern England and his life is overthrown when his brother (Sean Bin) appears who forces him to face his mysterious past.

The cast is complemented by Samantha Morton, Safia Oakley-Green and Samuel Bottomley.

The world premiere of “Anemone” will take place at the 63rd New York Film Festival (NYFF) at the end of the month.

The film will begin to be screened in selected American cinemas on October 3, with a wider distribution than October 10 via Focus Features. In Greece, it will premiere on October 23.
