The Tame Impala it is not one complex like everything else. It’s not even a band. He is the artistic identification of 39-year-old Australian artist, Kevin Parkerof the man who chose to experiment around her psychedelia and to send his musical inspirations from down there – Oceania – up here, to the rest of the planet!

His fifth album is called Dead beat and it comes 15 years after its debut. It contains 12 songs, in which he has mixed in psychedelia, a bit of electronica, with touches of tribal and techno moments, something that he tries to such an extent probably for the first time in his career.

His musical journey

In 2010 he debuted his project with the name Tame Impalasince by then he had been drumming in Pond, writing music, doing occasional gigs in stores, and actually laying the groundwork for the start of his great career. His first record – Innerspeaker – wins top record award for Australia in 2010. One indie recordwith 11+2 rock and pop compositions, always based on the synthesizer, an instrument that is the basis of the so-called neo-psychedelia.

In 2012 he presents the Lonerism and now Kevin Parker is starting to occupy the world music scene and not only that of Australia, where he again wins the album of the year. Twelve songs and two bonus tracks and Tame Impala are now known to all fans of the alternative and psychedelic scene, but also gaining an audience in the pop community, thanks to Parker’s genius and ability to incorporate a special musical effect into more mainstream situations.

Tame Impala’s breakout came in 2015 with their third album, Currents. Platinum in the US and Great Britain, Parker takes advantage of his musical knowledge, personal experiences and commercial reality and creates a fantastic musical result, with 13 songs, much closer to the pop music scene, with disco touches. It is characteristic that seven years later, managed for one week to be the disc that had cumulatively the most sales and the most streams in Greece!

Since then, Parker has thinned out his work, releasing only two records. In 2020 Slow Rush was his fourth albumagain with 13 songs, changing the style slightly, adding more electronic interventions to his music. A disc that again triumphed in all the charts and in all the music magazines, despite being removed from the pop community.

To arrive today, October 17, the fifth album of the special artist, titled Dead beatwith the Australian artist’s transition from pure psychedelia to more danceable musical norms, clear and impressive. With the End of Summerthe first single two months ago, we suspected that Kevin Parker was dabbling in more electronic sounds, with the next two, the Dracula and the Loser we got confused for a moment, listening to more radio and commercial songs, but now we have the whole record available, in YouTube and Spotify and all we care about is not having to wait another five years.
