THE pandemic has changed a lot in the job market, except for one: the time we spend on useless things.
According to research by the company Asanawhich makes business plans, the employees of the so-called “White collar” they spend more than half their day “coordinating things”, such as seeking information, follow-up from previous days and communicating about work.
Although there are differences by region – the Germans spend much less time in useless jobs compared to Americans – the results are similar all year round: Only one third of the shift we are really doing what we were hired for – and that has not changed since 2019.

In terms of country findings, Germans spend more time doing their job than other nationalities, but also spend less time on strategic planning.
Workers in Japan and Singapore were better at this last piece, devoting 10% to the strategy, but it was both nations that spent most of their time simply coordinating rather than working.
The companies have tried to improve in this area, but without much progress. The number of rallies increased by 70% during the pandemic.
This global survey was conducted on more than 10,600 employees in the fields of data analysis, graphic design and others.
In addition, time spent on strategy or planning decreased by 9% last year compared to 13% in 2019. This was due to the fact that the work was not done live and it was difficult to meet members of a “scattered” group at the same time.
On the other hand, another reason for this demand is that long-term forecasts are difficult for many companies amid the pandemic and its impact on work.
