Elena Paparizou is undoubtedly the “number one” in the hearts of all Greeks, especially after her victory at Eurovision in 2005, but especially among the residents of Mouzaki Karditsa and the neighboring Oksia, the place where her father came from.
Elena was born and raised in Sweden, but in the summers she always returned to her hometown, and created beautiful memories, next to her loved ones. And the truth is that even today she has the village in her heart, and whenever she finds some time she goes there to calm down and see friends and relatives.
Of course, everyone in the village is proud that Elena comes from there and on the walls of their houses and shops they have photos of the popular singer from her childhood, until today, when she is well-known, with many successes to her credit, and we enjoy her on The Voice of Greece, through the frequency of SKAI.
Everyone talks about her with emotion and an excess of love, and remembers moments from the summers she spent there as a child, while everyone emphasizes that despite the great success she achieved, she was and still is always shy, smiling and approachable to the whole world.
She herself, when she goes to her father’s village, sees relatives, friends, goes on nature trips and takes some time away from the public eye. Speaking earlier in an interview, she characteristically said that “in Mouzaki, I’m not Paparizou, I’m Elena, George’s daughter”, showing us that apart from being a big star, she’s also the girl next door. That little girl who came from Sweden to Muzaki in the summers, gathered all the children in the yard and sang to them. He had a star to become something great, and he did it…
In May 2005 and on the day of her name day, she brought Greece to first place in the popular Eurovision Song Contest, filling with joy and pride the Greeks everywhere, who united, like a fist, took to the streets to celebrate this success. In one night, Elena became the child of all Greeks.
Twenty years later she is still the Number One singer of our country, who remembers her village in Karditsa wherever she is and wherever she stands. “Elena, we love you” says her uncle to the camera of Where Greece Is, an expression that all of us have said at some point.
