In particular, he will become the first romantic comedy character to be honored with a statue on the iconic ‘Scenes in the Square’ path, in the famous Leicester Square.

Eric Fellner, co-chairman of Working Title, the production company behind the hit film series, told Deadline: “It’s incredible and unprecedented for Working Title. We’re going to have a bronze statue of one of our most loved heroines in Leicester Square and that’s really exciting.”

And he added: “We have never experienced anything like this before. I think it’s great, because Bridget is a real London hero and the idea of ​​her being present in a great location in the center of the city is really exciting.”

In the same place there are more than a dozen sculptures inspired by classic films, such as Harry Potter, Gene Kelly from the movie “Singin’ in the Rain”, Mary Poppins and Batman. Zellweger will be in attendance at the statue’s unveiling on November 17, along with her co-stars Sally Phillips, Chiwetel Ejiofor and Leo Woodall.

The recognition comes as next year marks 25 years since the premiere of the first film, Bridget Jones’s Diary. Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason (2004), Bridget Jones’s Baby (2016) and Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy (2025) followed.
