Universal will manage Elvis Presley’s music catalog

by

The list of successes of music legend Elvis Presley will henceforth be managed by Universal Music, following the agreement announced today between the record company and Authentic Brands Group (ABG), a copyright management company.

ABG and Universal did not disclose the financial details of the deal, which is based on pre-existing cooperation.

The announcement of the agreement came a few weeks before the release of the long-awaited biographical film “Elvis”, starring Austin Butler and Tom Hanks, whose world premiere is expected at the Cannes Film Festival in May.

Elvis Presley, who died in 1977 at the age of just 42, is one of the most successful musicians of all time, selling over 500 million records, including the hit “Can’t Help Falling in” Love “and” Viva Las Vegas “.

ABG also owns the copyright for Marilyn Monroe and Mohamed Ali.

This deal is the latest in a long line of music industry proprietorships for the music catalogs of great artists such as Bob Dylan and Bruce Springsteen.

Earlier this year, Universal acquired the copyright to Sting’s songs.
