Portuguese footballer Cristiano Ronaldo, 36, from Manchester United, and his girlfriend, model Georgina Rodríguez, 28, announced the death of one of the babies they were expecting on social media, this Monday (18).
“It is with the deepest sadness that we communicate the passing of our baby. It is the greatest pain that any parent can feel. Only the birth of our baby gives us the strength to live this moment with some hope and happiness,” the statement reads.
The couple thanked the doctors and nurses for all the care and support provided and spoke of their sadness at the loss. “We are devastated and ask for privacy at this difficult time. Our boy, you are our angel. We will love you forever.”
The player shared on social media that he would be the father of twins in October last year. At the time, he shared a photo with his girlfriend holding the ultrasound exam.
“It’s a pleasure to announce that we are expecting twins. Our hearts are filled with love – we can’t wait to meet you,” he wrote at the time on Instagram.
Georgina has a three-year-old daughter Alana with the player. The football player is also the father of Cristiano Jr., 11, and twins Eva and Mateo, 4.
