‘Gay guys are very straight’, says hairdresser who announced Bolsonaro ‘very bichíssima’ in Gaviões

Hairdresser Neandro Leal decided to go straight home after parading at Gaviões da Fiel dressed as a president on Saturday night, in São Paulo. “I don’t know if it’s a good idea to go around, maybe some crazy bolsominion will show up,” he said, laughing.

Homosexual, the hairdresser caused controversy this week when he said in an interview with Sheet who would enter the avenue as a “very gay Bolsonaro, giving a lot, very bichíssima”.

In a note, the school denied Neandro and said that his statements were wrong. According to Gaviões, the character played by the hairdresser is a “any fascist ruler” – and not President Jair Bolsonaro (PL).

Neandro paraded with a presidential sash, without any direct mention of Bolsonaro, accompanied by hairdresser Gisele Porto, playing a first lady.

“I left Bolsonaro”, he reaffirmed this Sunday morning (24) after the parade. “It’s just that I’m gay. The intention [do que eu disse] it was kind of joking because he [Bolsonaro] has a reputation for being homophobic. Carnival joke, huh?”.

The episode also generated criticism from the LGBTQIA+ community: “I wasn’t expecting this. I was attacked from both sides. People are very serious, at least during Carnival we will allow ourselves to play, not to become so militant, so activist. the sense of humour”.

According to the hairdresser, “gay people are very straight, very conventional”, and Brazil, “very Americanized”. “Americans are politically correct, they talk about free speech, but they don’t have any freedom.”

Neandro gave up on the surprise he had prepared: lifting a banner reading “Fora Bolsonaro” during the parade. According to him, the decision was personal and there was no veto on the part of Gaviões: “When I saw the repercussion I said: ‘better not, enough with the confusion'”.

And he insists: “I gave it a try, I don’t know if they saw it. That’s gay, you have to give it a try.”
