The great pianist Mitsuko Uchida at the Athens Concert Hall

Mitsuko Uchida is considered one of the most important pianists of our time, with internationally recognized performances and recordings that have been honored with many distinctions – among them, two Grammys. Known in the international music scene for the comfort with which she moves in the piano ethnography of the classical, romantic and modern era, the Japanese soloist comes to the Athens Concert Hall for one and only recital within the series “Piano Masters”, on Tuesday, May 24 at 8:30 p.m.

Christos Lambrakis will present to the audience the compositions of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Robert Schumann and Gergi Kurtag, one of the greatest creators of the 20th century, and one of Uchida’s most beloved.

Her biography includes enviable collaborations with the most famous orchestral ensembles in the world (Berlin and London Philharmonic Orchestras, Concerthebau, Bavarian Radio Symphony, London and Chicago Symphony Orchestras, etc.) and with leading archives Riccardo Muti, Esa-Pekka Salonen, Vladimir Jurowski, Andris Nelsons, Gustavo Dudamel and Maris Jansons. Recently, she celebrated her 100th appearance as a soloist with the famous Cleveland Orchestra.

Mitsuko Uchida’s recital at the Megaron will feature The Fantasy in C minor and the Piano Sonata in Mozart’s Major Recession, as well as The Danes of David’s Fans, by Schumann. The distinguished craftsman will also interpret excerpts from volumes 2, 3, 5 and 7 of the collection “Játékok” (“Toys”) by Gergi Kurtag, but also his work “… Couple égyptien en route vers l’inconnu .. . “(“… Egyptian couple on the road to the unknown… “).
