Almost a year after calling herself a non-binary person, Demi Lovato, 29, now says she accepts being called by female pronouns.
In her Instagram bio, she said that she responds in the same way when referring to her as “they”, but also “she” and “her” (her and her in literal translation).
In May 2021, Demi revealed that she understands herself as a non-binary person, that is, one who does not identify with any binary gender whether female or male. In a series of messages on social media at that time, she explained better about this positioning.
“For the past year and a half, I’ve been doing a healing process and reflective work. Through this, I have the revelation that I identify as a non-binary person. With that said, I officially change my treatments to ‘they/them. ‘” he said.
In English, the terms “they” and “them” mean “they” and “them”, but they can also refer to men, women, or people who do not identify as either sex.
In a series of messages on Twitter, Demi said that she had wanted to reveal herself to the world for a while. “Every day we wake up we have another opportunity and chance to be who we want to be. I’ve spent most of my life growing up in front of all of you who’ve seen the good, the bad and everything in between,” she said.
Demi said she was happy to be who she really is and to be able to share that with everyone. “This came after a lot of healing work and reflection. Sharing this now opens up another level of vulnerability for me. I’m doing this for those who haven’t been able to share who they really are,” she concluded.
