Balenciaga launches R$10,000 torn sneakers and becomes a meme in the networks

The Spanish brand Balenciaga, which has already transformed Crocs into high heels and sold platform boots with splatters of paint, is betting on a limited edition of 100 men’s sneakers that look extremely worn, worn and torn on purpose. The model called Paris Sneaker costs approximately R$ 10 thousand, according to Uol.

The shoe is reminiscent of the classic Converse Chuck Taylor, but with ripped fabric, scuff marks, wear on the rubber and the Balenciaga name scrawled on the sole. Designed by Demna Gvsalia, the shoe is available in black and white. According to the brand, the idea is to suggest that the Paris sneaker is “destined to be worn for a lifetime”.

Despite the brand’s explanation of the concept of the new shoe, netizens did not miss the chance to make jokes and memes on social networks. One netizen posted photos of the sneaker on Twitter and commented: “Here we have a clear demonstration of how easily the rich are deceived.”

Another user of the social network wrote that people study 10 hours a day for years to pass a public contest to be able to buy beggar clothes. “That’s the dream. Torn, dirty and underlined: Balenciaga launches destroyed sneakers for R$10,000.”

One person shared photos of the torn sneaker and asked if it already comes with foot odor. Then she answered her own question: “If so, I want to own Balenciaga!”

An internet user compared the sneakers to those used in the series “The Walking Dead”: “For those who said that ‘The Walking Dead’ was no longer relevant, look at Balenciaga bringing some models of sneakers that look like they came out of the series.”
