Rafael Miguel case: Remember who was the actor of ‘Chiquititas’ who died in 2019

The name of actor Rafael Miguel, who made “Chiquititas”, came back to the fore this Monday afternoon (16). This is because of the arrest of trader Paulo Cupertino Matias, suspected of killing the young man and his parents almost three years ago.

But who was Rafael Miguel? The actor was 22 years old when he was murdered by the father of his then-girlfriend. He was with his parents, Miriam Selma Miguel, 50, and João Alcisio Miguel, 52, who were also hit and killed in the attack, which took place in São Paulo.

Rafael Miguel became known for playing “Paçoca” in the children’s soap opera “Chiquititas”, shown by SBT between 2013 and 2015. Before that, he had already participated in the soap operas “Pé na Jaca” (2006-2007) and “Cama de Cat” (2009-2010), on Globo.

The young man was hit by seven of the 13 shots fired by his girlfriend’s father, who did not accept their relationship. The shots hit the head, left arm, chest and back. His father was hit by four shots and his mother by two.

Cupertino had been on the run ever since and even changed his name to Manoel Machado da Silva to try to escape the police. He passed through cities in the interior of São Paulo and even Mato Grosso, where he worked as a cattle caretaker on a farm.
