The German sculptor Katarina Fritz (Katharina Fritsch) introduces to the Greek public the George Economou Collection, from June 18, at the exhibition space of the collection, in Maroussi (80 Kifissias Avenue).
Katarina Fritz has made a significant contribution to the visual arts since the early 1980s. With special forms that he forges and paints in bright colors, he has developed a specific sculptural vocabulary that includes a typology of everyday objects, animals and people, but also installations based on the mythological and surreal. The rich history of Greek culture in documentary sculpture, mythology and folklore, resonates in the work of the artist.
In her first solo exhibition in Greece, presents recent sculptures next to some of her first works during and shortly after graduating from the Düsseldorf Academy of Artsin the early 1980s.
The artist has orchestrated a carefully designed experience for the visitor and as she has said “he never treats an exhibition merely as a sequence of works but always looks at the big picture». Each work in the exhibition has been selected for this overall setting and curated by Jessica Morgan, director of the Dia Art Foundation, New York.
