TikTok star Corey O’Brien recreated the Marilyn Monroe dress worn by Kim Kardashian, 41, at the Met Gala, which took place in early May, and posted a video on the social network.
He told Page Six Style that he used a $12 Forever 21 dress and over 350 rhinestones of the sparkly style to make a copy of the original dress. “You can make a quality look without a huge amount of money,” joked the tiktoker.
“I saved a bunch of photos and videos of the outfit, scene by scene. With the beauty of the dress and its history, I was extremely meticulous with everything,” O’Brien said.
O’Brien didn’t even forget the accessories. “I glued a rhinestone strip together to create the earrings and used paper towels as a white shawl,” he says. “It took a while to get everything right.”
To complete the effect, O’Brien dressed up as Kardashian’s boyfriend Pete Davidson, who helped her up the Met Gala steps in Marilyn Monroe’s original dress.
O’Brien said that no one can top Kim or the late Monroe, but he wanted to make something that would pay homage to their beauty and perseverance, wit and timelessness. “Being faithful to me and my followers.”
