More than half a century ago, 57 years ago, we were filmed with the youngest Vangelis Papathanassiou in his first musical steps, with the band Forminx.
In 1965 The Forminx with 22-year-old Vangelis Papathanassiou was the main band in the best dances that took place in Municipal Theater of Patras for the events of the Patras Carnival that year. In the video of the Patras Carnival Committee, the later Vangelis appears, starring, singing and playing various musical instruments.
According to the site elliniko-greek-rock, the band disbanded at the zenith of its popularity, sometime in the spring of 1966. In this short period of their activity, eleven 45 rpm discs were released. In total, the group left 22 songs, most of which have been written by Vangelis Papathanassiou and some others by Nikos Mastorakis who has written the lyrics of most of the songs.
Forminx was created in 1962 in Athens. Their name is with Latin inscriptions of the word “formigx” which is an ancient Greek musical instrument. The group started out as a school band.
