Georgiadis at the “Kathimerini 1st Health Summit”: There is enough space for investments in the health sector

by

The prospect of investments in the field of health was welcomed by the Minister of Investment and Development, ‘Adonis Georgiadis, in the work of the “Daily 1st Health Summit”. More specifically, according to an announcement, the minister noted that for the last 2.5 years there has been a cosmogony of investments, mainly in private hospitals or private diagnostic centers.

He also made a special reference to the investment clawback, which – as he pointed out – has brought a perspective and a stability that has led to investments and announcements of investment plans for the next three years.

Asked about the broader prospects in the health sector, Mr. Georgiadis said that there is enough room for investment and that with the right policies Greece can play an important role. “We attract investments from everyone, but it is gratifying to see many Greek investors,” he noted, referring to the interest of local investors.

As for the possibility of imposing a new lockdown, he clarified that this is not going to happen, because “we do not have the moral right”. At this point, in fact, he referred to the fact that on the one hand 70% of the adult population has been vaccinated and therefore is not in danger of dying, on the other hand there is no money for a new lockdown. “There is no money today, we can not lockdown and condemn people to poverty,” he said.

Asked to comment on the recent increase in vaccination appointments, Mr. Georgiadis said “he is very pleased, because the measures have begun to work”.

Finally, he reiterated that we must focus on prevention and not on treatment. “Yes, to have the pills, but the vaccine is for before. “The vaccine is much cheaper than the drug and is for prevention.”
