How to apply for monoclonal antibodies – The 10 hospitals that will provide

The Ministry of Health and Digital Governance recently announced the start of the administration of the 2,000 Monoclonal Antibodies, as the Scientific Committee was set up on Thursday afternoon, which will examine the relevant applications and the necessary extension to the Electronic Computer System was implemented. The medical application for the administration of Monoclonal Antibodies to patients with COVID-19 will be submitted exclusively by the treating physician of the patient, through the Electronic Prescribing System. Prioritization of applications will be based on the time of their submission to the electronic system and beneficiaries are patients who meet the criteria, as determined by the National Commission for the Protection of Public Health against coronavirus COVID-19. These are mainly patients belonging to vulnerable high-risk groups.

The physician is able to apply for a Monoclonal Antibody for a patient only if the patient meets all of the following criteria:

  • He is 12 years old and over
  • His disease has been confirmed by PCR test
  • The PCR test has been performed on the patient for the last five days
  • The treating physician will fill in the patient details. Once the application is submitted, the patient will receive an SMS on his mobile phone to confirm receipt of the application. Both the doctor and the patient will be informed by SMS about the decision of the Commission, whether it is positive or negative.

Applications will be evaluated by the Commission within a few hours. In cases where the administration of Monoclonal Antibodies is approved, patients will be informed by the Reception Hospital and will arrive at the appointed time of the appointment and will be directed, according to the applicable protocols for COVID-19, to the appropriately configured infusion site. Administration is a simple procedure, similar to injecting other antibodies and takes about 30 minutes. The patient will remain in the special unit for about two hours for infusion and follow-up.

The 10 hospitals

For the first phase of monoclonal antibody administration, ten hospitals were selected based on their experience in both covid-19 patients and the infusion process with a parallel investigation of the geographical distribution of vulnerable high-risk groups.
