The state of São Paulo reached this Thursday (25) the mark of 75% of the population with a complete vaccination schedule against Covid. Altogether, more than 34.7 million people received the two doses or single dose of available immunizers.

The state also has more than 84.5% of the population with at least the first dose of the vaccine, according to government data. As a result, São Paulo is the Brazilian state with the highest percentage of people vaccinated.

The rate of 75% of the population with the complete vaccination schedule is one of the requirements established by the state Scientific Committee for the end of the mandatory use of masks in open spaces from December 11th. The plan was announced by Governor João Doria (PSDB) on Wednesday (25).

In addition to the vaccination indicator, the committee also recommended that the flexibility of masks occur when the moving average is up to 1,100 cases of Covid per day and admissions are below 300. The average number of deaths cannot be greater than 50.

On the day of Doria’s announcement, the daily moving average of new cases was 1,289, admissions, 318, and deaths, approximately 61.

The state government’s forecast is to surpass 80% of the population with a complete vaccination schedule by November 30th. São Paulo has 4.1 million people who have not yet shown up for the second dose of the vaccine

In addition to applying the second dose, the government is also taking action to increase the number of people with the booster dose in the state.

Last week, Doria announced that people over 18 could receive a booster dose of Covid vaccine. At the time, the governor declared that the new injection could be applied five months after the completion of the basic cycle, bringing it forward by one month.

The announcement came a day after Health Minister Marcelo Queiroga announced the reinforcement for all adults in the country.

The City of São Paulo also announced the administration of booster doses, which are already being applied. The capital follows the recommendation of the state, and people over 18 who have completed the basic cycle for five months can receive the booster of immunizing against Covid.
