Brazil recorded 208 deaths from Covid-19 and 39,372 cases of the disease this Saturday (16). With this update, the country has lost 675,353 lives and 33,283,715 people infected with Sars-CoV-2 since the beginning of the pandemic.

The moving average of cases is stable (no variations above or below 15%) in relation to the data from two weeks ago. It now stands at 58,526 infections per day. The average number of deaths is also stable and, this Saturday (16), is 248 deaths per day.

The country data, collected up to 8 pm, are the result of collaboration between SheetUOL, O Estado de S. Paulo, Extra, O Globo and G1 to gather and disclose the numbers related to the new coronavirus pandemic.

The information is compiled by the consortium of press vehicles daily with the state Health Departments.

The consortium of press vehicles stopped updating the numbers of vaccinated against Covid-19 on weekends and holidays. On business days, the data will be updated normally. The measure aims to avoid inaccuracies in the numbers provided to the reader.

The change occurs due to problems in the consolidation of vaccination data by state secretariats. Several states do not update the total number of vaccinated on weekends and holidays, and even those that do sometimes report outdated numbers, which do not correspond to reality and are usually corrected in the following days.
