SP has data blackout on Covid and government blames Ministry of Health

by

Without publishing data on new deaths from Covid since Monday (26), the Government of São Paulo, through the Secretary of State for Health, says that it cannot extract them from the Ministry of Health system. Thus, it is not possible to know the condition of the disease in the state.

“The state portfolio has already notified the Federal Government about the blackout of Covid-19 data that the state has been suffering for almost a week, but, so far, there has been no position from the Ministry of Health regarding the normalization of the system”, he says. the Secretariat, in a note.

According to the folder, the communications were made by technical teams on Monday (26), Wednesday (28) and this Friday (30). The secretariat says that it encountered failure and instability in the official system.

Sought, the Ministry of Health stated, by email, that the extraction of SARS (Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome) data, used for Covid statistics, was normalized this Friday (30) in the morning. The São Paulo secretariat, however, says it was not communicated.

The information is used by the consortium of press vehicles, which publish daily data on the number of cases and deaths by Covid in the country since June 2020.

The unprecedented union of SheetUOL, O Estado de S. Paulo, Extra, O Globo and G1 took place at a time when the Jair Bolsonaro (PL) government was taking actions that reduced the quantity and quality of data available on Covid in Brazil.

The vehicles then teamed up to seek information on the disease directly with the states and the Federal District. Each of them was responsible for a group of federative entities.
