A total of 278 domestic cases of infectionof West Nile virus have been diagnosed in Greece since the beginning of the 2022 season, until today, Tuesday 11 October 2022, at 11:00, according to the weekly report of EODY. Of these, 180 had CNS manifestations (CNS, encephalitis and/or meningitis, and/or acute flaccid paralysis) and 98 had mild manifestations (eg, febrile illness).

Over the past week, from the previous weekly report to today, 10 new cases were diagnosed/reported. 26 deaths have been recorded in patients infected with the virus and with CNS manifestations, aged over 61 years (median age of deceased 85 years). Two additional deaths of patients with diagnosed West Nile virus infection were attributed to other serious co-occurring health problems (not included in the total number of deaths).
