Processes leading to the renewal of vaccination certificates only for those receiving the booster dose have begun to be launched within the EU.
According to her post Everyday, at the last informal Council of Health Ministers in October, the issue was raised for the first time, while next month it is expected to be included in the official agenda.
Greece is positive in the perspective that the certificate has an “expiration date” if the third installment is not made, with Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis pointing out its importance at every opportunity. However, it is clear that any decision will have to be taken at European level.
However, the atmosphere in the first informal discussion of the health ministers was positive for such a decision, as most European countries have already started the third tranche.
The rationale for such a decision is that at the end of the semester the immunity decreases and the third dose is a basic condition for maintaining the immune wall in the long run, otherwise from the beginning of the year onwards, if there is no repeat dose, the actual percentage vaccinated will begin to decline.
It is recalled that the issue was also raised by the Deputy Minister of Digital Government, George Georgantas, who speaking to SKAI said that he has started a discussion in the scientific community about the time for which the vaccinated person is covered. “We are ready to adjust the validity of the certificate accordingly. “At the moment there is no expiration date for the certificate, but it is understandable that after one year from the second installment, one cannot have the same security that one had in the semester”, he stated characteristically.
