Phenol peeling eliminates women’s wrinkles and video goes viral; know the technique

A video published by an aesthetics and dermatology clinic in Rio Grande do Sul went viral on social media by showing the change caused by phenol peeling, an aesthetic procedure that promises to rejuvenate the skin for years in just one session.

At the beginning of the publication, a patient appears with wrinkles and expression marks and, 21 days after the technique, most of the signs of aging on her face are gone.

Phenol peeling, which is invasive, if done correctly is considered safe. Experts say that it should be performed by a medical specialist – they also recommend that it be done only on fair skins or those with low melanin. Its price can reach around R$ 30 thousand.

The procedure is mainly indicated to treat wrinkles, but it can also be used against melasma and acne marks. The result, however, is not as impressive as in the case of aging.

The method should only be performed by professionals specialized in the technique, such as dermatologists and plastic surgeons. It should also be performed in surgical centers or clinical outpatient clinics monitored because of anesthesia and arrhythmia peaks that can be caused by phenol in the bloodstream before it is metabolized by the body.

Recovery involves shedding a thick layer of skin, a process that takes about 15 days. At this stage hygiene and hydration are important, in addition to a lot of sun protection.

In an interview with the report of Sheetdermatologist Ediléia Bagatin, coordinator of the Department of Dermatological Cosmiatry at SBD (Brazilian Society of Dermatology) says that phenol peeling promotes “unbelievable rejuvenation and a very long-lasting result”.

“There are reports of the effect having lasted 20 years, as long as the person takes care of that skin with retinoic acid and sunscreen continuously”, says the doctor.

Bagatin says that the patient must be well informed about what is going to happen. She points out that the postoperative period is painful, and remembers that the appearance “gets very ugly”.

“It is not a surgical procedure, but it is considered invasive. It causes a great aggression, as if it were a deep chemical burn, which will require almost daily follow-up, at least in the first week. patient”, he points out.
