Anvisa starts charging a passport for the vaccine at airports and borders

by

Anvisa (National Health Surveillance Agency) informed this Monday (13) that it started to demand a vaccination certificate from anyone who enters Brazil through airports or at the land border.

The charge follows an injunction decision by Luís Roberto Barroso, STF minister, who ordered the government to bar the entry of unvaccinated people.

The Jair Bolsonaro (PL) government has not yet published an ordinance to adapt to the injunction. The text should provide more details on how to charge for the document, but the disclosure of the ordinance was hampered by doubts about the form of inspection of the “vaccine passport”.

In a statement, the agency said that it had informed the border posts, especially airports, for the immediate compliance with the injunction. He also claims that he is evaluating specific cases, such as passengers who were already on the move when Barroso’s decision was announced.

“Anvisa started collecting proof of vaccination at the same time as it carries out specific assessments for cases in which the traveler may be harmed by the change in rules between the period of departure and arrival in Brazil”.
