The Minister of Health Thanos Plevris is currently participating in a meeting with the governors of the 3rd and 4th Health Districts and with hospital administrators, in order to consider ways to deal with the problems from the fourth wave of the pandemic.

In a statement, the Minister of Health stated that the health authorities are in contact with the private sector in order to channel as many patients as needed, while efforts are being made to strengthen the hospitals with staff and doctors either by announcements or by providing incentives especially for specialties of doctors that are most necessary.

In fact, Mr. Plevris left open the possibility of ordering private doctors to deal with the situation, in case the needs grow and the other moves do not work.

He once again referred to the need for vaccination as the only way to shield the health of citizens and the public health system, while answering questions from journalists he said that the issue of vaccination certificates in relation to the third dose is being considered at European level. .

He added that no extension of the obligation is being considered, stressing that in case the new measures that will take effect from tomorrow do not bear fruit, any other new measures will be of the same philosophy and will be addressed mainly to those who have not been vaccinated.

Finally, he assured once again that no lockdown will be implemented at regional and local level.
