Uru Mar y Parrilla celebrates Uruguayan cuisine in the east side of São Paulo

by

Taking an entire block on Emília Marengo Street, on the east side of São Paulo, the project with a blue and white façade and a ceiling height of more than seven meters has challenged itself to be an à la carte steakhouse outside the gastronomic axis of the city , centered on neighborhoods like Jardins, Pinheiros and Itaim Bibi.

Celebrating Uruguayan cuisine, a portion of black pudding, which costs R$ 24 and is the Achado, leaves the 3.5-metre-long parrilla. “Our sausage is supplied by Pirineus. It is grilled quickly just to get a crunch, and it is served with lemon”, says Guilherme Temperani, one of the four cousin partners of Grupo Vila Anália, which also includes the Macaxeira restaurant on the block next to side.

With 600 m² of area, including the outdoor tables, the place surprises right at the entrance with a large wine cellar with more than 1,500 bottles available. A tannat grape wine is always a good choice to accompany the typical cuts served there, such as prime rib angus, lomo, ancho steak, roasted strip, in addition to the artisanal grilled chorizo, which costs R$ 39 and comes with garlic bread .

“Unlike Argentine cuisine, seafood is very common in Uruguay,” says Temperani. In addition to squid, shrimp and grilled fish, Uru also has an aquarium of live oysters — which come straight from Rio Grande do Norte and are treated with sea water. They are served in portions of six units, grilled or fresh, which cost R$59.

Among the drinks, the suggestion is the classic clericot jar, priced at R$90, made with fresh fruit, Cointreau, sparkling water and white wine. Finally, try the classic alfajor de dulce de leche, which costs R$ 16, one of the most requested desserts at the restaurant.
