Self-isolation is no longer recommended after a positive coronavirus test in Denmark

“Henceforth, there will be no specific recommendations to remain isolated after a positive diagnostic test for Covid-19,” said the statement from the health authority under the Danish Ministry of Health.

In Denmark, self-isolation is no longer recommended if someone tests positive for Covid-19, thanks to high vaccination coverage rates for so-called vulnerable groups of the population, the Nordic country’s health authorities announced today.

“From now on, there will be no specific recommendations to remain isolated after a positive diagnostic test for Covid-19,” said the statement from the health authority Sundhedsstyrelse under the Danish Ministry of Health.

In February, the Nordic country was among the first in Europe to lift pandemic restrictions, but continued to recommend quarantine for those who tested positive for the disease caused by the coronavirus.

The number of Covid-19 patients requiring hospitalization remained stable throughout the autumn, and Danish health authorities expect only a “slight increase” in the winter, expressing satisfaction with the level of immunity in the population and the high percentage of citizens over 50 years old who has already been vaccinated with booster doses.

In the country of 5.9 million inhabitants, almost 3.4 million cases of coronavirus have been confirmed since the start of the pandemic.

Screening is now only recommended for citizens who have developed suspicious symptoms, in order to provide appropriate treatment.

However, the Danish health authorities advise: “You should stay at home if you are sick, regardless of whether you think it is Covid-19, the flu or another respiratory infection.”
