Brazil registered 67 deaths by Covid-19 and 2,568 cases of the disease, this Monday (20). With that, the country reached 617,905 lives lost and 22,213,696 people infected by Sars-CoV-2 since the beginning of the pandemic.
Some states remain with record instability issues due to the cyber attack against the Ministry of Health’s system last week. Twenty-one presented new numbers on deaths and infections and 14 updated the data regarding vaccination.
Moving averages of deaths and cases remain falling. The average number of deaths is now 132 per day, down 30% from the figure two weeks ago. The average number of infections is 3,497 per day, down 61%.
The average of deaths reached the 17th consecutive day below 200.
Country data, collected up to 8 pm, are the result of collaboration between leaf, UOL, O Estado de S. Paulo, Extra, O Globo and G1 to gather and disseminate the numbers related to the pandemic of the new coronavirus. The information is collected daily by the consortium of press vehicles with the state Health Departments.
Data on vaccination against Covid-19 are among those affected, in several states, by the attack on the ministry’s website. In any case, the information was at least partially updated in 14 units of the federation.
Brazil registered 666,174 doses of vaccines against Covid-19, this Monday. According to data from the state departments of Health, there were 55,176 first doses, 217,360 second doses. In addition, 1,257 single doses and 392,381 booster doses were recorded.
In all, 160,498,120 people received at least the first dose of a vaccine against Covid in Brazil —137.030,338 of them have already received the second dose of the immunizing agent. Added to the single doses of Janssen’s vaccine against Covid, there are already 141,619,683 people with two doses or one dose of Janssen’s vaccine.
Thus, the country already has 75.24% of the population with the 1st dose and 66.39% of Brazilians with two doses or one dose of Janssen vaccine. Considering only the adult population, the values are, respectively, 99.02% and 87.37%.
Even those who received two doses or one dose of Janssen vaccine must maintain basic care, such as wearing a mask and social distance, experts say.
The initiative of the consortium of press vehicles took place in response to the attitudes of the Jair Bolsonaro (non-party) government, which threatened to withhold data, delayed bulletins about the disease and took information off the air, with the interruption of the dissemination of total cases and deaths. In addition, the government released conflicting data.
