Corona virus: These are Greece’s measures for travelers from China – The negative test is mandatory

After the worsening of the epidemiological situation of the COVID-19 pandemic in China and to deal with it, following the recommendations of the competent committee of the European Union, EODY announced on Thursday the proposed preventive measures for our country.

Among other things, the negative test becomes mandatory for all travelers from China, 48 hours before their departure, and there is a recommendation to use a high protection mask.

EODY clarifies that there will be a periodic re-evaluation of the measures and they will be implemented for a specific period.

In particular, these measures are as follows:

• Mandatory demonstration of a negative diagnostic test result (antigen rapid detection test, or molecular test) of all travelers on direct flights from China, 48 hours before their departure
• Genomic surveillance of SARS-CoV-2 in aircraft effluents involving direct flights from China, as well as in Athens airport municipal effluents
• Strengthening SARS-CoV-2 genomic surveillance in the community for surveillance and early detection of any new variants
• Recommendation for use of N95/KN95/FFP2 high protection mask for passengers of international flights bound for our country, from initial destination China. Recommendation for mask use in general in airport areas for all travelers regardless of destination, airport staff, and airline employees
• Vaccination recommendation with an emphasis on vulnerable population groups for a basic regimen and booster doses of vaccination against SARS-CoV-2 according to the guidelines of the National Committee on Immunization.

“The purpose of EODY is the provision of services that contribute to the protection and improvement of health and the increase of the population’s life expectancy, the effective response to threats to human health from communicable diseases through the early detection, monitoring and assessment of risks, report and submission of scientifically substantiated proposals and intervention measures. In this context and in view of recent developments in China, the above measures are proposed” it is pointed out.
