Parents and guardians sought the UBSs (Basic Health Units) this Thursday (2), on the first day of vaccination against Covid-19 for all children aged six months to less than 3 years of age without comorbidities.

Until then, vaccines for this age group were released only for children in the risk group. In addition to the first and second doses in babies, the capital also started vaccination with a booster dose in children aged 5 to 11 years.

Immunization in this age group is done with doses of Pfizer Baby, a vaccine from the manufacturer Pfizer indicated for the younger public.

The search at UBS Cambuci, in the central area, for example, started early. By noon, according to local officials, ten children from the target audience had already been immunized.

The clerk Janaína Belarmino Dias, 28, took her son Theo, 1, to get immunized.

“I was following the release [da vacina]. I think the Covid one is very important for his protection and to make sure the vaccination is correct, because it is ideal. I also took the opportunity to give him his one-year vaccine, “he said.

Driver Carlos Eduardo da Silva, 54, also took his son, Arthur, 2 years and 10 months old.

“I came to bring the first dose of the vaccine for his health and the next one as well. I recommend that they bring their children soon to be vaccinated and keep us all healthy”, he said.

Musician Marcelo Lavrador, 49, went with his wife to the unit to pick up a vaccine certificate to present at his daughter Nara’s daycare, 2 years and 6 months old, and took the opportunity to immunize her.

Others took the opportunity to guarantee the second dose of the vaccine for their children.

Secretary Rita de Cássia Guimarães de Oliveira Vital, 61, was with her grandson Miguel, 11 months old. “He took the first dose in the xepinha and I already came to bring him the second dose. It’s for his health, even more so that he already had Covid. . I even scheduled the third dose,” he said.

Civil servant Jéssica Flausino de Melo, 41, took her son Benjamin Flausino, 1 years and three months old.

“He took the first dose in the xepinha, now it’s the second. I think it’s important to prevent, even more so that my father died of Covid. I recommend parents to vaccinate their babies because we never know the reaction that [a doença] it will happen to every human being. You have to vaccinate, you have to keep children vaccinated for prevention. The vaccine is there, it has to be given, “she said.

“It is very important to protect the vaccines, they are all up to date because if not, the diseases will all come back. A lot of people think that the vaccine will be harmful and do not give the vaccine the importance it needs to have”, said the nursing assistant Camila Rodrigues Barbosa, 37, who took her daughter Maythe, 2, also for the second dose, after having received the first in the xepinha, in December.

A total of 768,000 doses of Pfizer, including Pfizer Baby and the pediatric vaccine, were delivered to the municipality as part of the National and State Immunization Programs (PNI and PEI).
