The weekly report on respiratory infections was published by EODY.

According to the results of the Report, there are 95 deaths from coronavirus and 101 intubated in the last week.

At the same time, 3 new serious cases of laboratory-confirmed influenza with ICU hospitalization were recorded, while 2 new deaths were recorded in the last week.

Influenza syndromes (regardless of pathogen)

✓ a decrease compared to the previous week was recorded in the community
✓ the reduction applied to all age groups, except for the 0-4 years group, in which
no change in the frequency of influenza subscriptions was observed

SARS-CoV2 virus – COVID-19 infection

✓ the positivity in all the tested samples was at the same levels as
last week
✓ the number of admissions for COVID-19 showed an increase
✓ the number of new intubations showed a decrease
✓ the number of patients with COVID-19 infection who are hospitalized with intubation is 101
✓ 95 deaths were recorded with a median age of 86 years (range 48-102)
✓ the BA.5 sub-variant is the most frequent Omicron sub-variant
✓ the sub-variant BQ.1.1. is the most frequent sub-variant of BA.5
✓ most frequent sub-variant of BA.2 remains BA.2.75 (44%), followed by sub-variant XBB.1.5 (33%) and sub-variant CH.1.1 (19%)
✓ surveillance of viral load in municipal wastewater showed increased circulation of SARSCoV2 virus in 3 out of 10 areas tested

Influenza virus

✓ flu positivity in the community has increased
✓ 3 new serious cases of laboratory-confirmed influenza with hospitalization were registered

✓ from week 40/2022 to week 07/2023, 64 people were hospitalized with influenza in
ICU and 21 deaths were recorded✓ during the same period, 274 samples positive for viruses were recorded in the two influenza reference centers
influenza (sentinel and hospital samples), of which 267 (97%) were strains
type A and 7 (3%) were type B strains
✓ of the 266 type A strains subtyped, 251 (94%) were classified into the subtype
A(H3N2) and 15 (6%) in subtype A(H1N1)pdm09

Respiratory syncytial virus – RSV

✓ positivity was at the same levels as last week
