A little more than a month after the first records of the omicron variant in Brazil, Covid-19 cases returned to rise in the country. At the same time, the number of deaths continues to fall. On Monday, the moving average was 96 deaths per day, thus completing the nineteenth day below 150.
Some recent studies suggest that Covid is manifesting itself more mildly with omicron. However, as the variant spreads faster, it can infect a lot of people and wreak havoc.
At Breakfast this Tuesday (4), professor at the Institute of Biosciences at USP Daniel Lahr explains what is known about the seriousness of the omicron, how it acts in the organism of vaccinated individuals and the dimension of the likely new wave of Covid in Brazil.
