Peacock in SKAI: No to redundancies – Let the health workers go and be vaccinated

by

The president of EINAP, Matina Pagoni, spoke to SKAI about the hospitalizations and the Omicron variant, stating that “we have to face another uphill with Omicron”.

Ms. Pagoni stressed that during the weekend, during her on-call time, 59 new imports were made, most of which were with Omicron. Of these admissions, most patients were unvaccinated or with one dose of the vaccine, so if someone has not been vaccinated they are seriously ill with Omicron.

The doctor also stated that the ICUs have stabilized and are mainly Delta cases, while there has been a more than 45% increase in the number of patients treated in single covid beds.

At the same time, he estimates that we will have a peak of cases on January 20.

Regarding the opening of schools today, he pointed out that “schools open properly and the rules are stricter”, while more cases will be seen due to the more tests.

Fourth dose and unvaccinated health

Regarding the possibility of a 4th dose of vaccine, Ms. Pagoni said that a new update will be made in about a month.

Regarding the vaccinations of the sanitary and the possibility of dismissal of the unvaccinated, he said that there are very few who have remained unvaccinated and stressed that “most of them are not vaccinated, they are afraid because they have some diseases”.

“I do not agree with the dismissal of all unvaccinated health workers. I ask them to go get vaccinated and go back to work. “Let us not escalate situations,” he said.

Over 60

Finally, for those aged 60 and over, he stressed that they must go and be vaccinated in order to survive. “These people are coming to the ICU. Especially those who have underlying diseases are intubated. “I do not want people to die every day.”
