Coronavirus – Moderate optimism: Case escalation and shorter duration of hospitalization

by

Scientists are moderately optimistic about the visible de-escalation of coronary heart disease.

The number of cases is declining – with experts estimating that the peak of the wave finally came earlier and now we are entering a phase of de-escalation.

After several weeks, the viral load begins to decrease and the pressure in the hospitals, however, remains at high levels.

Summarizing the trend of daily cases that were recorded in the last days in our country, we see indicatively that on 04/01 50,126 were recorded, on 05/01, 43,386 on 08/01 we had 37,676 patients while on 12/01 the infections were 24,246.

Finally, the cases on 13/1 were 20,000 and today 19,772.

The latest measurements in the wastewater of Attica show a stabilization and indeed a small recession, maybe this week we will finally close with a small reduction in the viral load of wastewater, said on Public Television Professor of Analytical Chemistry Nikos Thomaidis.

The pressure on the hospitals, however, remains in the red as another 72 patients ended up while the intubated ones jumped to 679.

At the same time a new weapon is added to the scientists quiver, the antiviral pills. The application platform for vulnerable groups, such as immunosuppressed, transplant and heart patients, will open next week. Antiviral pills will not be given to pregnant women this time.

With the consent of the patient, the doctor will submit the relevant application and then, if approved, will be able to receive them from the hospital or from the pharmacy of EOPYY.

The duration of treatment is 5 days.

The specialists are also optimistic about the shorter duration of patient care.
