Koronovios – Papanikolaou hospital: Outside the ICU 2 intubated – “The staff faints” |

by

Extremely worrying, with too many admissions of patients with covid, another vigil is evolving in a hospital in Thessaloniki and specifically in G. Papanikolaou, where just four hours after the start of the vigil, two intubated patients are treated in the operating room and not in the ICUs that filled immediately.

Today’s on-call duty at Papanikolaou Hospital in Thessaloniki is also dramatic, as according to information from GRTimes, two intubated, severe cases of coronavirus are being treated in the operating room as there is no ICU bed available.

The completeness of the ICU is as follows, according to the same information: The A ‘ICU has 18 intubated, the B’ 12, and out of the 18 beds of the C ‘ICU which is the last addition, 9 are operating which are all full .

Given the suffocating situation and as the staff is not enough, the Psychiatric Clinic was recently closed to use the staff in other clinics, but again the situation is more than marginal, as the president of the Hospital Workers’ Union, Eleni Siotou, told GRTimes .

“People faint from overwork”

As Mrs. Siotou, the other nine beds of the 3rd ICU, are likely to be operational until Wednesday with the assistance of doctors from Athens, however no one knows where additional medical staff will be found, as the existing one is not enough and is exhausted.

“People faint from overwork. They are not tired now, but for the past two years they have been fighting on the side of the patients, “he said, adding that of the 70 employees who were suspended, most were in the Covid incidents and that only 5 people were interested in working as auxiliary staff. D.E. people from IEK, without being able to staff Covid clinics.
